Australian pace stalwart Megan Schutt entered cricket's record books at Brisbane's Allan Border Field on Thursday, claiming her 150th One-Day International wicket during Australia Women's commanding seven-wicket rout of Bangladesh.
Historic Inswinging Milestone
The 33-year-old South Australian reached the milestone in her 93rd ODI when she shattered the stumps of Bangladesh opener Sobhana Mostary with a trademark inswinging inswinger that dipped late through the gate. Schutt finished with figures of 3-21 in an eight-over spell that dismantled Bangladesh's top order.
With this landmark, Schutt joins an elite club of female bowlers to breach the 150-wicket barrier in One-Day Internationals, alongside legends Jhulan Goswami, Cathryn Fitzpatrick, Shabnim Ismail, Katherine Sciver-Brunt, and Stafanie Taylor.
Clinical Chase by the World Champions
Dismissing Bangladesh for a modest 142 in 41.2 overs, Australia overhauled the target in just 26.4 overs with seven wickets in hand. Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield provided rapid starts before Beth Mooney guided the hosts safely over the finish line.
'To reach 150 wickets in Australian colours is an honour I cherish deeply,' Schutt said after being crowned Player of the Match. 'The white ball swung reliably today, and our entire unit maintained tight control from the opening ball.'
